Sketching at Elmwood Cemetery

Earlier today we braved the wind and near-rain to meet up at Elmwood Cemetery, one of our favorite places in Memphis to sketch.

Sketches from the Old Forest in Overton Park

Earlier in April we went to the Old Forest in Overton Park, led by frequent Old Forest visitor Martha Kelly. It was such a peaceful setting and we were all inspired.

March Sketch Group

On Saturday our sketch group met at the National Ornamental Metal Museum, which sits right on the Mississippi River. It was a perfect day for sketching - still snow on the ground, but the sun shining so bright it kept us warm long enough to sketch outside. The Museum is home to a working foundry and smithy, where they were having a class in blacksmithing, and we sketched in there, too.

Sketching at the National Ornamental Iron Museum

Four urban sketchers showed up at the National Ornamental Iron Museum on an unusual March day because snow was still on the ground. I sketched mostly outside looking at the Mississippi River, with a quick stop inside the foundry to warm up.
