June Sketch Group at Marshall/Monroe Area

We'll meet at Marshall Arts and sketch the area around Marshall and Monroe - great urban area with Sun Studio right down the street. We'll be able to get into Marshall Arts in case the weather doesn't cooperate, and to use the restroom, and to see the awesome show that will be in there - This Art Has Cooties - organized by me and featuring some of our regular sketchers.
We can do lunch after in the area!

May Sketch Group at Maria Montessori School

11th Annual Maria Montessori School Duck Race and Regatta
740 Harbor Bend Road, Memphis, Tennessee

Meet in the school driveway at Harbor Bend Road.
There is plenty to sketch all around that area, including the Duck Race festivities.
Meet back there at noon to share your sketches!

Here's a list of activities for the day:
9:30 Canoe and Kayak Race registration begins
10:00 Kids' Fun Run (meet in amphitheater behind school)
10:30 Canoe and Kayak Race contestants meeting 
11:00 Canoe and Kayak Race (1, 2, 3 mile courses) and
Children's games open, food, kayaking in the pond, 
boat tours in the harbor, etc.
11:45 Trophy Ceremony 
1:00 Let the Wacky Boat Building Begin
2:00 Wacky Boat Races and Duck Race
3:00 - 5:00 Music from local bands

Registration to Open for 5th International Urban Sketching Symposium in Paraty, Brazil

On Monday, March 31 you can register to attend the 5th International Urban Sketching Symposium taking place in Paraty, Brazil, August 27-30, 2014. Registration opens at 4:00 PM GMT.

This year we will accommodate more sketchers than ever by providing several passes for different levels of participation. More information about the passes can be found on the Symposium website, along with the full Symposium schedule.

Sketching at the Clark Tower

Earlier this month we met at the Poplar/White Station Library, right next to the Clark Tower, on what turned out to be a beautiful day. Several of us stayed outside to sketch - here's my sketch of the White Station Tower.

News from Chicago - Sketch Seminar to be Hosted by Urban Sketchers Chicago

Register Today for the Urban Sketchers Chicago Sketch Seminar Coming in June 2014

(Chicago, IL) Urban Sketchers Chicago will be hosting their very own Chicago Sketch Seminar weekend in the great city of Chicago on June 7 - 8, 2014.  The event will attract local and visiting sketch artists from near and far. While sketching at various sites throughout downtown Chicago, there will be instructors teaching related topics such as an Introduction to USK, How to Choose What to Sketch, How to Draw People in Urban Sketching, Collaborative Sketching, Urban Sketching on an iPad, and a review of Best Practices and tools to name a few. March Sketch Group at Clark Tower Area

Poplar-White Station Library / Clark Tower Area

We'll meet in front (outside) of the Poplar-White Station Library at 5094 Poplar Ave, and we'll have the option of sketching outside if the weather is nice or inside if the weather doesn't cooperate. Outside, there's the library building itself, the Clark Tower and its garage, and the other tall building next to it to sketch. Anyone interested can stay for lunch at Casablanca, which is just west of the library.
